Aden Davison, in his last season as a player with Colchester United has told his team to take recent defeats “on it on the chin” as he prepares to make his 100th start for the club.

He told the Evening Gazette this week: “It’s a difficult time when you’re conceding goals but you can’t feel sorry for yourself.”

He added: “You just have to get your heads down and we’ve been working hard in training to patch things up.”

The 39-year-old keeper also told the local paper that he will defiantly be retiring at the end of the current campaign, despite intending to do so for the past three seasons.

“Dean Gerken and Mark Cousins are the long-term future for Colchester United.”
Davison will reach the milestone if he passes a late fitness test of the shoulder injury he sustained against Coventry last weekend.
