John-Joe O’Toole could soon be back in first team action for Colchester after turning out for the reserves on Tuesday night.

The midfielder, out since the end of October following surgery on a troublesome groin injury, made his return in the Essex Senior Cup and managed to complete 60-minutes of the 4-1 win over AFC Hornchurch.

After seven games out the 23-year-old should soon be back in contention for a first team place although this weekend will probably come too soon.
