Micky Adams has had to take a backward step since his days in charge as manager of Coventry, but according to the Sky Blues` Vital site, he took City on in leaps and bounds during his time at the Ricoh, where he will re-visit as Colchester number two tomorrow.

The club enjoyed an eight-placed finish under Adams during the time when he brought in Premiership old-timers Dennis Wise and Don Hutchinson in 2005-6. The site also accredits Adams, known best for the miracles he performed at Brighton, with saving the club`s skin the previous year – his appointment coincided with thier Championship survival.

Today, Adams forms a vital part of the Colchester backroom staff, where his enthusiasm and experience is juxtaposed with the quiet demeanour of U`s boss Geraint Williams.

At City right now, because the club have been placed under a transfer embargo and have a manager in Dowise who is said to as ready to tender his resignation at any time, it must be easy to look back over the Adams era with some fondness. Is there a better time to play the Sky Blues?
