Former assistant manager at Colchester Micky Adams wants to be the new manager of Southampton after Chris Coleman & Glen Hoddle pulled out of the race.

Adams, it is reported from several of today`s papers, would love to make a return to the south coast with the Saints where he was a popular player.

Adams is also well-known in that part of the world following his successful spell with Brighton as boss.

Adams admitted he is interested in replacing former Colchester manager George Burley, who left Southampton this week to manage Scotland. Adams is between jobs, having spent less than a year as number two to U`s boss Geraint Williams in Essex.

“Obviously, it is a job that would interest me,” he told the media on Friday. “I am available for work.

“I had a fantastic time there as a player and I would very much like to repeat that as a manager.”

Adams has also managed Fulham, Coverntry, Liecester.
