Colchester’s new signing Chris Coyne has cited Colchester United’s ambition to be he main reason for signing.
Australian Coyne (29) moved from Luton Town on Thursday for £350,000.
After discussing the club with manager Geraint Williams, Coyne did not hesitate in signing.
‘The biggest thing for me was that Colchester had a lot of ambition’. He told the Colchester Gazette.
Adding, ‘They were a little bit like Luton being at Kenilworth Road in that they were playing at Layer Road but now they are moving to a new stadium.
‘They lost a few players last season but they’re still trying to push on and the ambition of the chairman and the manager Geraint Williams came through when I spoke to them.
‘Colchester have a fairly new chairman and a young up-and-coming manager, who’s making his mark in the game.
‘They also have a fantastic set of lads in the squad and I can’t wait to start.’

Welcome to the pack Coyne, so the club does have ‘ambition’ unlike others thought.
DONT LISTEN TO THE HYPE,WEVE BEEN TOLD THAT FOR YEARS SO WE KEEP BUYING OUR SEASON TICKETS AT LUTON, REMEMBER ALL BOSSES ARE LIARS……………………………BRING ME SUNSHINE
Clearly Coyne just wanted someone to pay his wages; hope he’s up to it!
But our club is run properley!
where was this money to buy players at the start of the season
Perhaps Williams was banking on the team doing better, or maybe he just spent within the means. The club is not going to break the bank to stay in the Championship but Cowling has also invested so we can’t exactly compalin. Results must follow now though!
Well Coyne made a very impressive debut, every ball in to the box he was first too it, just what we need.
Great stuff!
