Argyle Boss Delighted With Doogie

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has spoke of his delight after capturing U’s captain Karl Duguid.

Duguid, who turned 30 last March, penned a two-year deal, after the Pilgrims agreed an undisclosed fee with the U’s.

Sturrock told Argyle’s official website: ‘I am very pleased to have Karl on board.

‘He’s a player who I have seen many times when he has played against my teams and he has always impressed me.

‘He is a solid player and an honest individual who has got a fantastic engine, and is a versatile player who can play in various positions.

Midfield ace Duguid, who also filled in at right-back in his time at Layer Road, could see a defensive role more often at Home Park.

‘He can fill the position, and it is one which will benefit from a player of his experience and his leadership qualities. He has played 80 games in the Championship and can more than handle the level,’ Sturrock added.

‘I honestly think the change will do him good at this stage of his career. I think he will benefit from the new challenge and it will bring an edge to his game.’
