Pat Baldwin’s highly-anticipated exit from Colchester United today moved a step closer, as boss Aidy Boothroyd confirmed an offer had been accepted.

League One rivals Bristol Rovers have expressed a strong-interest in Baldwin – following the defender’s month-long loan stay at the Memorial Stadium. Despite initially failing to provide the U’s with a suitable transfer offer for the long-serving centre-half, Rovers and the U’s have now agreed on a price.

Speaking to The Daily Gazette, Boothroyd said: ‘It’s on-going. Bristol Rovers have made a big effort to get him back and they’ve made an offer, which has been accepted.’

The 27-year-old and Rovers will now have to sit down and discuss a contract.
