Pat Baldwin is getting closer to a Colchester United first-team return following a recent foot injury.

The cultured defender picked up the problem at Southampton, in a 0-0 draw, a couple of weeks ago. Baldwin’s condition was to be assessed today, as U’s boss John Ward looked towards Saturday’s clash with Milton Keynes Dons.

He also spoke of his happiness of how the U’s team have doubt with their recent injury problems. Full-backs Brian Wilson and Marc Tierney, along with centre-bakc Magnus Okounghae has all been forced off in recent weeks – in addition to Baldwin.

‘In two of the last three games, we have changed the back four around a lot within the match, but I have got a group of players that are not fazed by it and get on with the job in hand,’ Ward told the club’s official website.
