Marcus Bean has been on his way out of Colchester for a while now with him finally completing a loan exit ahead of the weekend games when he signed for Portsmouth.

A pre-season injury didn’t help Bean’s chances with The U’s this season but upon returning to fitness he’s found it difficult to get into new boss Tony Humes’ plans, with him recently revealing that a loan exit was the best chance the midfielder had of getting some regular first-team football.

He now has this after joining league 2 outfit Portsmouth on loan until the New Year with him now having the chance to get his career back on track.

Hume told the official website: ‘This is a great chance for Marcus to go out and kick start his career again, it has stagnated a bit here in the past couple of months.

‘He is a fantastic professional and his attitude has been spot on around the training ground, despite him not being involved in the first team.’

The 30-year-old left on Friday but he was given an instant debut against Morecambe, with him playing the full 90-minutes of Portsmouth’s three-nil win at Fratton Park coming off in injury-time.

Good luck Marcus, if you impress you could well earn yourself a permanent move to Portsmouth when the loan end on 3rd January?
