Colchester made it three wins from three pre-season friendlies so far, but the U’s were pushed all the way by Bishops Stortford in Saturday’s win.

Having trailed at the break a second half recovery saw us through to a three-two win in the end at Woodside Park.

Sellears opened the scoring in the first half, with that goal enough to take them into the break one-up.

One of the changes made at half time was Curtis and it was he that soon had us level early in the second half with another sub arrival Holman, who is looking to prove he’s got a U’s future, making it two-one with Bonne going onto add the third.

Stortford’s Lee pulled one back but we saw out a three-two win with West Ham the next opposition with the Premier League side coming to the Weston Homes Community Stadium this week.

A full report can be seen on the Official Website.

This is another win that’ll be more than taken but we’ve now got some really testing friendlies coming up against topflight or Championship opposition that will, with all due respect to the likes of Bishop’s Stortford, really show us what we could expect from the U’s this coming season!

Involved again for the U’s was trialist Ollie Lee, who was heavily involved with much of the play with another trialist getting a start in the shape of Sherwin Grot, he had a couple of chances that he couldn’t take and went off at the break.
