John-Joe O’Toole looks increasingly likely to be a Colchester United player, on a permanent basis, in the near future.
U’s boss Aidy Boothroyd confirmed to local newspaper The Daily Gazette that a deal is close to completion – very, very good news If you ask me! O’Toole, a battling box-to-box midfielder, was Boothroyd’s first signing after taking over at the Weston Homes Community Stadium back in September. Over the four months that the 21-year-old Irishman has been here his performances have slowly improved and now looks a vital part of the U’s set-up.
The former Watford manager said: ‘It is looking very positive and hopefully we will have some good news.’
The permanent capture of another loan star – Kayode Odejayi – has already been announced and according to Boothroyd the U’s are not far off making it a brace of signings.
‘But he has been fantastic since he has been here and we are 90 per cent of the way with John-Joe,’ he added.
So what do you think?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Hasn’t been amazing since arriving but we do seem to play better with him than without-maybe he is the ‘glue’ that holds the team together.
Yeah, to begin with I wasn’t overally impressed but like I said in the article he’s got better and better IMO! The last five or so games he’s looked a real tidy prospect and like Aidy always says ‘He’s horrible to play against’ as he gets so stuck in. Up the U’s”
