Aidy Boothroyd is hopeful defender Marc Tierney will extend his Colchester United stay.
The U’s are to offer the consistent left-back a new contract at the club following a fantastic first-year in North Essex. Tierney, formerly of Shrewsbury Town, is reportedly on the radar of a number of Champioship clubs, according to a report on skysports.com.
‘I had sat down and spoken to Marc on Tuesday and said that, despite the recent results, I thought he was one of the players that had done well and that I wanted to sit down and extend his contract,’ Boothroyd explained.
The 24-year-old is a big fan’s favourite at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and the U’s faithful will have thier fingers-crossed a new deal is signed.
‘I have seen the speculation surrounding Marc but I don’t get sucked in by all that stuff. Marc is a player that I think a lot of, because I think he’s come a long way in a short space of time.’
