Boss: Odejayi Holds Championship Class

Aidy Boothroyd heaped praise on striker Kayode Odejayi, a week on from completing a permenant move for the big-man.

The powerful forward spent three-months on loan in North Essex and agreed a full-time transfer on Christmas Eve – and now a week on Boothroyd is looking forward to Odejayi shining in 2010.

Speaking to The Daily Gazette: ‘The fans have taken to him and he`s deserved everything he has got so far.’

Odejayi, who signed on loan from Barnsley, where he struggled during a torrid two-year spell, netted seven times for the U’s before Christmas. The 27-year-old showed power, pace and skilfull finishing ability during his time in a U’s shirt – something U’s fans cant wait to see more of.

And Boothroyd explained that he believes Odejayi has ‘Championship ability,’ high praise indeed.

‘He started like a house on fire and I`m sure that he`ll do very well for us when he gets back in the team, because of the nature of the player,’ he added.
