Kevin Keen’s already made some changes to the coaching set up at Colchester since his arrival as the U’s boss with him revealing he’s considering more changes but such a decision will only be made after giving it serious thought.

David Wright stepped up to become Keen’s assistant with the academy being shaken up too but there could be more changes made still.

Keen, after the hectic festive period, told the Gazette he was getting this out of the way with a decision made after the game with Oldham today.

‘It’s something going forward again. I want to get the Christmas and New Year games out of the way first as when we get into January, it’s pretty much Saturday-Saturday-Saturday. There are lots of little ideas in my head, some concerning that and some concerning other ways that we may be able to do things.’

Another decision to be made is on the ‘keeper front with Jamie Jones returning to Preston following his loan spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium ending.

Since this Elliott Parish has returned to the starting XI with Keen saying he was especially impressed by his performance in the defeat to Gillingham on Monday with him adding we’ll have to ‘watch this space’ as far as this goes.

‘We will have to watch this space with the goalkeeper situation. Decisions have got to be made but I thought Elliot Parish was very good. He looked comfortable and he had no chance with the goal. He made some good saves and he played a big part in the team performance.’

Regarding the return since he came in he finished by saying he feels Colchester have been unlucky not to get anything so far.

‘We’ve played two good matches but unfortunately come away without the points and as manager, I have to look at that and we have to find a way to win football matches.’
