Former Colchester United defender Wayne brown has said that the signing of Teddy Sheringham had nothing to do with his controversial U`s departure.
It has been rumoured amongst U`s fans that the arrival of England legend Sheringham was the reason that Brown left for Humberside. The no-nonsense centre-half misses out on a return to Layer Road through injury, as the U`s entertain Hull City tonight.
‘There is nothing Colchester could have done to keep me.’ The 30-year-old told The Colchester Gazette.
The ex-Ipswich Town man denied links of him leaving to Sheringham’s arrival: ‘We all move on for one reason or another and while I knew Teddy was signing, he had nothing to do with me leaving.’
‘I had three fantastic years at Layer Road and I loved every moment of them.’ He added.
