Speaking in today’s Colchester Gazette former U’s stopper Wayne Brown is looking forward to returning to Layer Road, the ground where he enjoyed a lot of sucess saying:

‘Colchester isn’t an easy place to go to and get a result.

‘They have some very good individuals and if anyone can get them out of the situation they’re in, it will be Geraint (Williams).

‘I have a lot of time for him.

‘For any team that gets promoted into the Championship and does well, the second season is always the most difficult.

‘That would have been the case, whether they’d lost players or not.

‘Geraint is looking to replace those lads he lost in the summer in the January transfer window.

‘I went to see Colchester play at Ipswich and they were more than a match for them in the first half and for 20 minutes in the second half.

‘They’ve been a bit unlucky and at times they haven’t had the rub of the green.

‘But Bristol City are a very good team and for them to get a point there last weekend was a great result – it’s obvious from that that the belief is there.

‘The league is very average and I think that’s the reason why Colchester will get out of trouble.’
