Wayne Brown who last week handed in a written transfer request joined the squad this week for pre-season and looks likely to start the season at Layer Road.
Owner and Chairman Robbie Cowling said today that Colchester had received an initial enquiry from Hull City which was rejected and there had been no further contact.
In an updated statement from the club posted today on the Official Site Cowling said:
‘It was made quite clear that as far as the board are concerned, a move would only be considered if it was right for Colchester United, and we do not believe that to be the case in this instance.’
Adding: ‘With that in mind Wayne reported to the club along with the other members of the squad as normal for pre-season’

Good, I want him to stay but only if he wants to play for col u.
He is a true pro but I wonder where his mind would be?
hopefully pre-season’ll get him hungry again! just hope the lads can push him into wanting to stay!
Hopefully! We had just got rid of anyone who was not comitted; I think he would have been allowed to leave, had the rest of the squad not gobe last season as well!
