Colchester’s League 1 season continued with an amazing draw against Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium on Saturday.

Having fallen behind to 10-men, Colchester equalised before slipping to three-one down against Chesterfield! But a dramatic injury-time goal rescued a point against the 10-men, in a three-three draw!

Chesterfield went down to 10-men when Talbot was sent off for a foul on debutant Sordell but Jones (22) still gave the home side the lead, which was soon wiped out by Massey (29).

Second half goal from Novak (62) and Morsy (74) looked to have the 10-men on for all three-points but Moncur (76) quickly pulled one back for Colchester with a Raglan (90) own goal earning the U’s an injury-time point!

These were the match highlights.

The other results at the weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 12th September
Barnsley 4-1 Swindon
Burton 1-0 Rochdale
Chesterfield 3-3 Colchester
Crewe 1-3 Millwall
Fleetwood 1-1 Bradford
Gillingham 2-1 Blackpool
Oldham 1-5 Peterborough
Port Vale 3-2 Wigan
Scunthorpe 1-0 Coventry
Sheff Utd 1-3 Bury
Southend 0-1 Shrewsbury
Walsall 2-0 Doncaster

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Barnsley, Peterborough and Bury!

Barnsley, having lost the previous two in League 1, reacted to falling behind to Swindon, who had been unbeaten, by storming back to win at Oakwell in the end. A win would have been a good result as it was but to win four-one makes it an even better result.

Having sacked boss Robertson before the game Peterborough, as so often happens, reacted to thrash Oldham five-one at Boundary Park….a result that cost Oldham boss Kelly his job with him sacked after the defeat!

The result of the weekend, which could be argued I suppose, has to be the win Bury had at Bramall Lane against the form side in League 1 Sheffield United. The win was made all the more impressive with this coming as the Shakers as the visitors to the Blades.

Colchester are back in action this midweek with the rearranged League 1 game against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
