As Colchester United return for pre-season training on Thursday, the club have confirmed in the local Evening Gazette that there will be new signings; including the possible transfer of former England star, Teddy Sheringham.
In a report published today, chairman Peter Heard reveals that U`s owner Robbie Cowling, well-know at West Ham where the ex-Manchester United player has just been released from a contract, has met with the forward, holding ‘preliminary talks.`
The article indicates that 41-year-old Sheringham, who is mulling over his next move, has a potential ofer as player-assistant manager at the club, although Heard states it is “far from a done deal.” He insisted in the Gazette: “He’s one of a number of people who the club are considering.
“If the person who is being suggested suits Mr Williams then that will be ideal, added Heard. He concluded: “In the end, it’s up to Geraint Williams to get the gaps filled.”

Come on Teddy you know you want to!
lol. I thought it would be good. But then, do you think he’ll form a good team with the manager if he is no.2? Only he started card schools at West Ham!
Would certainly be a feather in your cap if he signs!
