Put into context this was a pre-season game and it was a young West Ham side but it WAS a game Colchester won as our pre-season run continued!

The U’s picked up another win on Tuesday when we saw off Premier League side West Ham at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Like I’ve said this was a young Hammers side, so we’ve got to remain grounded, but a friendly win or not with well over 6,500 in attendance at the WHCS – which is a hell of a turnout for a friendly, we won one-nil.

George Moncur scored the winner, finding the back of the net early in the first half against his former side with that goal enough to see us through to this win.

In effect it was a West Ham U21 side, but even a West Ham U21 side – which previously housed the likes of Moncur – had plenty of ability and quality about it.

Tony Humes once again took the chance to look at former Blackpool ‘keeper Elliott Parish, his latest performance and cleansheet continues to give him something to think about with Leyton Orient the next side faced, they too come to the WHCS.

Actually Parish has since signed so he’ll face Orient as a full time U!
