Colchester’s League 1 survival chances are still alive, although following a draw against Swindon on Tuesday we’ll be dependant on other results now if we’re to secure a dramatic last day survival.
A great start had us on course for a win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium but a Swindon equaliser mean that we had to settle for a one-one draw in the end….
Barely 30-seconds were on the clock when Norwich loanee Murphy (1) got on the end of a Massey’s cross to put us one-up and, at that point anyway, leave us dreaming of safety with this in our own hands.
Both Massey and Gilbey had chances to extend this lead before the break, both going close, whereas Porter will know he should have done better with an effort that Swindon ‘keeper Foderingham saved without much threat.
These misses were punished earlier in the second half when Kasim crossed into Gladwin (53) who headed home to make it one-one.
We had to be thankful to Walker for a point a least, who saved well to keep out Luongo with Porter hitting the post late in the game, his header striking the upright and preventing us from winning….

This point leaves us a point from safety, so this is still on but it could have been more and we’ll have it all to do to stay up now.
Preston (h)
If we’re to stay up, first and foremost we’ll have to beat Preston and that isn’t going to be easy in the slightest as they’re chasing a win that will secure them automatic promotion and even a win ourselves might not be enough!
All we can do is do what we have to, but can we pull off this escape?
