Colchester United had to settle for a draw today at home to Sheffield United.
An improved performance at Layer Road saw Kevin Lisbie and Johnnie Jackson grab a goal each after The Blades had gone ahead on the stroke of half time, with a goal from Jamaica striker Luton Shelton.
Colchester came out for the second half with purpose and Kevin Lisbie soon levelled the scores with a good efrfort.
Jackson sent the home crowd wild with a free kick that deflected off of Jon Stead and into the visitors net putting Colchester 2-1 up and looking to extend their lead.
However Colchester’s defence had a moment of complete lack of concentrating allowing David Carney time and space in the area in the 66th minute to secure a point for Brian Robson’s side.
Geriant Williams later said ‘We’ve been punished for a mistake again, but we showed a lot of belief and I was delighted to see the lads so positive.’
