Colchester`s Brown: I Must Move

The unnamed Championship club believed to be interested in securing the services of Colchester United`s Wayne Brown is Hull City, according to strong speculation, and the defender refuses the perform a U-turn on Tuesday`s decision to request a transfer.

Brown, 29, is adored on the terraces at Layer Road but has become the latest in a long line of regulars by declaring he wants to leave.

In tonight`s Evening Gazette, Brown states: “I don’t want to become embroiled in a mud-slinging match, but Colchester have offered me a contract which is not acceptable to me.”

According to another passage in the article, he “is doing what`s best for himself,” claiming that the mass exodus of last season`s record-breaking squad, who achieved the club`s highest-ever league placing, has influenced his decision.

“Losing Curo (Cureton, to Norwich), Big Chris (Iwelumo, to Charlton) and Richard (Garcia, to Hull) is like losing 50 goals.”
