Colchester manager Geraint Williams denied reports that the U’s have put a £750,000 price tag on want-away star Jamie Cureton.

Media speculation has suggested that last seasons Top Scorer and player of the year is being priced out of the market but Williams told the Gazette: ‘We have not set a figure on Jamie Cureton.

‘However, if someone came in with a reasonable offer for any of our players obviously we would have to look at it, as we did with Greg Halford during last season.’

Cureton’s transfer request, handed in two weeks ago, this was rejected by the U’s board and Williams confirmed: ‘That is still how things stand today.’

be a shame to see him go, but if he wants to, it’ll be really hard to keep him. he was always a great player at Rovers

And other teams have questioned his layalties. But he’s a very hard working player now, accoding to U’s man Kevin Watson.
