Contract Offers For Prutton & Ifil Still Live

Colchester United Chairman Robbie Cowling and new manager John Ward have confirmed that the contract extensions on offer to Phil Ifil and David Prutton still stand.

The Essex club are awaiting approval from the pair that they wish to continue in club colours, amid interest in former Leeds man Prutton from Colchester`s League One counterparts Brighton.

Cowling said he had to suspend the contract offers in theory while searching for Aidy Boothroyd`s replacement but revealed upon Ward`s appointment on Monday that they are players his new man wants to stay.

Ward himself said: “The Chairman has spoken to Phil`s agent and that`s as far as it`s gone. I`ve tried to contact David Prutton but haven`t been able to at this moment in time. David said he`d like to stay. I`d like him to.”

Ward also said he was happy with the deals both players had received from Colchester United.
