Cowling Implies City Escape Points Dock

Robbie Cowling all-but confirmed yesterday that Norwich City will not suffer the ignominy of docked points over their poaching of Paul Lambert.

The League look set to soon reveal their verdict by jury, resorted to after negotiations for remuneration over the Stott`s controversial departure nine months ago, which Cowling maintains was executed in breach of the rules.

The U`s Chairman has said he believed yet-to-be-published Football League sanctions, alongside the club`s compensation claim, do not “go far enough.”

He told BBC Radio Essex: “It has been advanced. The whole decision has been made now on sanctions and everything. However, we are waiting to be allowed what we can disclose and what we can’t disclose. I’ve got a smile on my face regarding the compensation we received which I think they did right.”

Club Chirman and owner Cowling has already said the Essex side will make public whatever fee they receive.

The U`s have since lost Lambert`s successor, Aidy Boothroyd, to Championship club Coventry City and yesterday hired his replacement in the job, John Ward.

Norwich, meanwhile, were crowed 2009-10 League One Champions under Lambert`s stewardship.
