Chris Coyne`s ever-lengthening saga over a move to Perth is NOT over, according to new reports.

The Colchester United defender has been constantly linked with a move away from the club after very well-documented problems with manager, Paul Lambert.

But a second-wave of reports, following the speculation that Coyne had already penned his three-year contract on offer by The Glory, have emerged as untrue.

“I think there’s other interest overseas in Dubai,” Glory coach, David Mitchell, said in sections of today`s Australian press. “We have put our offer to him and we are just waiting to see.

“It’s been tight getting him in the salary cap but if he does come he’s taking a significant cut in his wages for the first year, but it would be great if we get him.”

This statement almost certainly confirms talk that Coyne is one of the highest earners on the U`s roster, having signed on a long-term deal eighteen months ago when the club where still in the Championship.

Mitchell added: “The situation is he’s got a lot of offers so he’s got a lot of things in his head he’s got to work out.” Interest is believed to have come from as far away as Korea, Dubai, China and Australia, although Coyne`s personal geographical preference according to his family is to remain in Europe.

“He’s committed to saying he does want to come to Perth but he’s got to look at the situation, the big picture financially,” Mitchell also said.

With the deal originally supposed to have reached a conclusion at the weekend just gone, there has still been no official word from United, Coyne`s current club, on the status of any proposed transfer.
