An unofficial source says Chris Coyne has left Colchester United for Australian side Perth Glory – again.

It is the second time this summer that Coyne, who has been considering a three-year offer from Glory, has been reported as an ex-Colchester United player without official confirmation.

At the start of the month, manager Paul Lambert was forced to viciously deny articles saying that the 30-year-old defender had his contract terminated with mutual consent.

This time, Perth Glory`s Myspace page, in the last 24 hours, boasts the claim that Coyne has agreed a deal after weeks of speculation. It comes in the same week that Coyne was linked with a return, click here, to now his former club and now non-league side, Luton Town.

The Colchester Gazette reported on Monday that Coyne was due back in training with United after a prolonged rest and holiday, although he had been expected to agree terms with The Glory by then, following quotes last week.

The Myspace website currently claiming Coyne as a latest Glory marquee signing prints: “Perth Glory Myspace can exclusively confirm that Colchester United defender Chris Coyne is on his way to Perth Glory after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.’

Colchester United fans have been left underwhelmed by the latest news and increasingly frustrated by a lack of official comment on the situation.

Coyne last publically stated that, even if he did not become a Glory player this summer, it would not be though a lack of effort on the club’s part. It is well-known that he intends to play in Oz again before retiring.

Coyne`s brother, current Glory skipper Jamie, however, said Chris was likely to stay in Europe ahead of a season which should see him selected for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The player has received offers from the Middle East, Korea, and China, as well as Glory, according to a recent piece in the West Australian.

This saga continues.

Where is his contract? Lets all march to where it is stored and rip it up. This is really getting on my nerves now. Can’t it just end?

  • StevieG Col U says:

    Great idea!!! lol

  • StevieG Col U says:

Actually, where do you reckon player’s contracts are kept????!??!?

  • up_the_u's_aaron says:

God knows. I doubt that will be stored at the WHCS

  • Matt_Us says:

Is Chris Coyne even being stored at the WHCS?!?

  • up_the_u's_aaron says:

    What do you mean?

  • Matt_Us says:

I just meant, is he staying, or not?!?

  • up_the_u's_aaron says:

I would have thought he will be going. Think how many defenders we have at the moment. Maybury White Tierney Beevers Okuonghae Heath Baldwin Reid Lockwood and Coyne. White Beevers Okuonghae Heath Baldwin and Reid can all play centre back if needed to. So I really do think he will be off. Especially with him keep going to Australia to play for their national side.

Good points, I mean we have a load of defenders now.; 11 for four stops. Eight would be fine – you missed out Ifil!

  • StevieG Col U says:

Yep, reckon we need about 7-8 defenders for the season! Ifil, Coyne, Heath, Lockwood can go!

  • Matt_Us says:

Personally, assuming the new ones stay, then I reckon well see Coyne and Ifil go. That’s all.
