Coyne ‘very disappointed’

Colchester United centre-half Chris Coyne has revealed he’s ‘very disappointed’ with the U’s second-half performance in the 5-1 home defeat to Coventry.

Speaking to BBC Essex, the Australian said: ‘I’m very disappointed at the performance of the lads in the second half.

‘We’ve got a point to prove and that’s not the sort of reflection we want people to take of this group of players because we’re a lot better than that.’

‘We’re all disappointed with each other. Heads are down but we’ll have to pick ourselves up for a big game against Stoke next week,’ he admitted.

He also highlighted how the U’s have got to be strong group: ‘Football kicks you when you’re down and then it treads on you, so we’ve got to be a strong group, train hard during the week and make sure we come out and give a good account of ourselves against Stoke.

‘It’s only fair that we do that for the other teams that are also pushing for that promotion to the Premiership.’
