Colchester United travel to Gresty Road tomorrow, where they will lock horns with Crewe Alexandra.

The U’s, who currently sit in mid-table, will be hoping for their second league victory of the season. Geraint Williams’ squad should be nice and fresh after no game last weekend.

The Alex, who are level on points with Cheltenham at the foot of the League One standings, will be wanting a win in front of their home fans. The Railwaymen lost 5-2 to Leeds last weekend.

Vital Quotes:

U’s boss Williams said: “We want to go there and score goals, like we do in any game.

“The good thing this year is that we have gone away and eked out 1-0 wins against Gillingham and Millwall, which we found hard to do last year.

“It will be a tough game at Gresty Road,” he continued.

“They look to get the ball down and play good football on their own ground and it`s a test for anyone.

“We need to stop them from playing and it won`t be easy but if we do the right things, we can come away from there with a win.”

Alex first-team coach Steve Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: “I’m looking forward to this game because I want to get last week out of my head.

“It will be a good game of football, I know Geraint Williams from my days at Derby County.

“They are a similar side to us. They managed to stay in the Championship but had the problem of having to sell their best players and replacing them with cheaper ones.”

Crewe Alexandra Team News:

Alex midfielder Joel Grant (hamstring) should return to face the U’s. Michael O’Connor (knee) is also hopeful of playing.

Anthony Elding and Calvin Zola should start up front for The Railwaymen.

Player to watch: Anthony Elding

The ex-Stockport County striker signed for Crewe in the summer. Elding, 26, will want to add to his goal tally of one so far this season.

Colchester United Team News:

Record-signing Steven Gillespie returns to the U’s squad.

Centre-half Paul Reid (groin) is deemed fit enough to make the trip, but Matt Lockwood (knee) misses out.

Player to watch: Mark Yeates

The U’s Irish Magician netted twice in his last league outing at home to Oldham. Yeates, 23, will be looking to add another goal to his name this weekend.
