Daggers Promotion Means Derby Day

Dagenham & Redbridge won the League Two play-off final 3-2 against Rotherham on Sunday to propel them into the same division as Colchester United, which guarantees a pair of derby games next season for the U`s.

This year`s relegation tap-door fell open for both Southend and Gillingham, each offering their own brand of local spice for U`s fans to sample during their fixtures.

But now that the Daggers are up under the guidance of experienced manager John Still, the derby-day deficit is reduced at least by one.

The Essex side have performed consistently well this season and their manager was linked with the currently free-again Colchester United manager`s vacancy the last time it was available, when Paul Lambert left for Norwich City.

Vital Colchester would like to congratulate their county-counterparts in winning promotion this season.

Great win for the Daggers – top stuff! Should be a good pair of fixtures next season… Southend are officially the worst team in essex.
