Colchester United`s skipper Karl Duguid is delighted by the account his side gave of themselves in the 2-2 draw at Watford.

The 29-year old revealed in his diary entry, posted this week on his personal website, that he had feared that U`s would suffer at the hands of fate, as has been the case all too often this season.

Duguid said: “We keep banging on about character but that`s exactly what we showed on Saturday. We got off to the worse possible start by conceding a fluke goal but then took the game to our high-riding hosts.”

Duguid added: “When Clive Platt smacked his shot against the crossbar I thought our luck was out again but the rebound was favourable – there was still a lot of work to do before notching the equaliser.”

“Our fans were brilliant and there in numbers,” enthused the captain. He said he thought conceding first rallied the side. “Our passing game was working well and we were creating chances.”

“We certainly deserved our share of the spoils and could have won it with one of Mark Yeates’ trademark free kicks,” claimed Duguid. It all bodes well for the U`s next trip to Crystal Palace.
