Colchester United`s inspirational skipper Karl Duguid will not make a speedy return to first-team duty tomorrow against West Brom according to the EADT after he aggravated an ankle injury during training.

Duguid, 29, had been expected to line up with the rest of his U`s team-mates after resting the problem during the recent international break. But now it has emerged in the paper that he will not be involved because his injury has not reacted as well as he had hoped to intensive treatment.

In the EADT, Duguid said: “It’s frustrating, because I was back in training and feeling good. I was running and turning with the physio (Tony Flynn).”

“I rested it on Wednesday, and got through a hard session today (Thursday). We did some shooting practise at the end, and it’s then that I turned the ankle,” he added.

“It’s not back to square one, and hopefully it’s just a minor setback, though I suppose I must now be doubtful for this weekend’s game,” said Duguid, who expects to be in contention for a start during the forthcoming games against rivals Ipswich and Coventry City.
