Colchester United have been refuted in their interest in goalkeeper Rab Douglas.

The veteran stopper, currently of Dundee, Scotland, has been the subject of reported interest from the U’s, according to reports in Scotland.

After selling keeper Dean Gerken to Bristol City, click here, boss Paul Lambert is seeking a new man to compete with Mark Cousins for the number one shirt.

Although the transfer of Carlisle United man Ben Williams looked likely, the deal appears to have now fallen through, after play-swap Scott Vernon rejected the move.

Douglas, 37, formally of Celtic and Leicester City, only signed a new contract lasting two-years at the end of last season so a move does seem unlikely.

The Dark Blues manager Jocky Scott told local paper The Courier: ‘Rab signed a new two-year deal just before the end of last season so he is going nowhere.’

I’m sure I share the same views of many U’s fans in saying that I’d like to see us move for former loanee Jimmy Walker.

So do you think a deal is unlikely?
