First-team coach Joe Dunne has warned Colchester’s young players to improve on recent poor results.
The U’s reserves lost 9-2 to Ipswich Town last week, before crashing out of the Essex Senior Cup to Chelmsford City. Vital Colchester reported this to read the article, click here.
He told the Daily Gazette: ‘It`s got to be better – it`s as simple as that.
‘If you`re a young player at the club, you`re not here for a easy ride.
‘To go to Chelmsford with the side we had, we should have been able to see them off.
‘That`s what the manager wants and when you can`t do that, it poses questions and it poses problems, in the harsh reality of this industry. It was a lack of concentration and it`s been that way since I`ve moved back in and around the young players,’ Dunne continued.
‘The concentration and discipline during games needs to be better.
‘They are learning the harshest way – they lost 9-2 at Ipswich last week and there have been a couple of youth team games where we have just switched off.’
