Speaking in today’s Evening Gazette want away defender George Elokobi says he will continue to give 100% until such time he leaves.
Hoping to retain his place in the team after scoring what was the winning goal on Saturday, Elokobi said, “I haven’t been linked with any clubs.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m still very much a Colchester player.”
“You never know what’s behind the next corner in football, but I always give 100%, and that won’t change. I’m not going anywhere at the moment.
It was lovely to be back playing again on Saturday. I’ve just kept my head down in training, because I knew that my chance would come again soon, especially with all the games coming up in the festive period. I told myself that I must take my chance, and the gaffer told me to prove myself.”
Elokobi handed in a transfer request earlier this season and hadn’t featured in the team for five consecutive games, however he returned to replace the injured Danny Granville for Saturdays win over Sheffield Wednesday, Colchester’s first win in eight games and second away win of the season.

Top man George – thanks for Saturday!
Good goal, yes and the fans love(d) him, yes BUT on Saturday he says: “I know there are clubs out there watching me” and yesterday, “I haven’t been linked with any clubs.”
Yeah, do you think he will go?
Yup. But on a free next summer!
Yeah but if we offer him a contract it will go to tribunal if a fee can’t be agreed, cause he’s under 24…
