Former Colchester man George Elokobi has told his new teammates at Wolverhampton not to expect an easy game today when they face the U`s.

The young full back made his name with the Essex side that plucked the Cameroonian full-back from non-league obscurity and will be in the squad to face his one-time club this afternoon.

“The Colchester boys are always fired up for a game at home, I know that from experience,” he said in the media this week.

Of Layer Road, where Elokobi was a terraced favourite because of his work-rate, he added: “It`s never an easy place to go for teams so we will need to be right on top of our game.

“The supporters were unbelievable, they were great to me when I was down there. I don`t know what reception I`ll get, maybe it will be mixed although I`d hope it would be good.

“It would be nice if the Colchester fans judged me on what I did for the club,” the defender added. He is well aware that the manner of his January exit was seen as unprofessional by many of the faithful at the club.

“There was nothing untoward in the way I left, I just thought it was time to try and progress in my career.” Elokobi, of course, put in a transfer request and was then dropped from the starting XI after reportedly disputing the team selection with manager Geraint Williams.
