Swindon might be doing well in league two and Colchester going through an indifferent spell in league one but Colchester’s FA Cup defeat is still an upset.

The U’s, especially with home advantage, would have been the slight favourites but it was the visitors that advanced into the 3rd round with a 1-0 win.

A goalless first half saw the deadlock broken, with the winning goal, just before the hour when Ritchie (59) scored.

Colchester can now forget about a cup run for another year and will have to turn their attentions to ‘concentrating on the league’.
