FA Cup Goodbye For Loanee Lisbie?

Could Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Preston North End be Kevin Lisbie’s last appearance in the blue ‘n’ white of Colchester United?

Well, I’d love to say ‘No,’ but I can’t – for the time being at least!

The striker, who returns to parent club Ipswich Town, following tomorrow’s cup clash, has an uncertain future ahead. Lisbie is desperate to make a permenant move down the A12 to the U’s, but Town’s high cash demands look like they could scupper any potential deal.

However, one thing for certain is that Lisbie will travel North to Deepdale with the U’s squad as they look to make it through to the fourth round.

In the week boss Aidy Boothroyd confirmed that the U’s will field a strong side, with any thought of his side prioritising with the league quickly dismissed. Midfielder John-Joe O’Toole who sealed a move to Essex this morning – is banned after picking up his tenth yellow of the campaign. Another player who has joined the U’s since the opening of the January transfer window is Kayode Odejayi and he looks more than likely to feature.

On the other hand forward Scott Vernon (knee), full-back Lee Beevers (shoulder) and winger Ashley Vincent (ankle) all remain long-term injury victims.
