Vital Cardiff have confirmed the transfer of Colchester United`s top summer transfer target Chris Barker to QPR.
The 28-year old said: “I had several options but the move to QPR excited me and I hope to help them challenge for promotion next season.”
As part of the Welsh club`s squad cull, Barker was released for a nominal fee. His decision not to join Colchester comes in the wake of comments from several quarters about a lack of ambition and competitiveness in the transfer market, including by former star Chris Iwelumo.
Barker joins the London outfit having made 38 appearances for Colchester last season.

sad to see him go but it has to about money
Gregory says we lost out to “four of five” other sides to get him. Good signing for QPR.
cureton has handed in a transfer request!?!?!?!?
nice comment matt
He was indeed a high earner at Cardiff we are certainly not going to braek the bank for him here.
Barker is a decent LB but nothing special, there are plenty others out there as good for half the wages!
Perhaps he was elevated too a high status; I agree with boom boom. It’s not that he was fab – it’s more about the fact that he really was supposed to sign. But it’s good that WiG spends money as if it were his own.
