Colchester started their pre-season with a win against near neighbors Heybridge Swift thanks to three first-half goals in a 3-0 victory.

Colchester’s summer signings and triallists were keen to make their mark on the game with former Charlton striker, Kevin Lisbie firing home the opening goal after just seven minutes, the trialist was keen to make an early impression.
Former Southend and Leyton Orient midfielder, Luke Guttridge, who joined just a few weeks ago celebrate his first goal in a Colchester shirt after moving from Leyton Orient. Guttridge fired home the rebound after Clive Platt’s initial shot had been blocked.
Platt who become Colchester’s record signing some weeks ago after arriving from MK Dons a for a reported figure of £300,000 headed home at the second attempt after good work by Kevin McLeod to grab the 3rd and last goal.
Triallist Bela Balogh, a Hungarian international centre-half, had a good game impressing with his quick thinking and timely interceptions, Manager Geraint Williams fielded two completely different teams for each half.
