It can now be confirmed that Sheffield United will entertain Colchester on the first day of the 2007/8 Championship season following the yesterday`s decision by the arbitration panel not to overturn the oriental verdict.

Sheffield are said to be “disappointed” that they were not reinstated to the Premiership, which they thought looked a real possibility in light of a row over the supposedly illegal registration documents of West Ham`s Carlos Tevez.

However, despite the drawn-out nature of the appeal, the Hammers remain a top-fight club.
