Colchester United manger Geraint Williams admitted it was ‘essential` that he brought in another striker, this comes after signing Izale McLeod on a month`s loan.
McLeod will go straight into Williams` squad for tomorrow`s clash with Wolves, and will give the U`s extra flair up front. The U`s are missing front pair Teddy Sheringham and Jamie Guy through injury, while attacking midfielder Mark Yeates is also on the sidelines.
Williams told CU-FC.com: ‘We’ve suffered lately with attacking players missing from the so we thought it was essential to get another body in.’
‘Teddy’s foot injury is proving troublesome, Jamie could still be a couple of weeks away and Mark’s out for the season so Izale will be a useful addition.’ He explained.
The Welshmen also spoke of what a formidable partnership Clive Platt formed with McLeod in their time at MK Dons: ‘He has formed a profitable partnership with Clive Platt before and has a good goal scoring record so hopefully will score some goals in his time here.’
