Colchester`s Dean Gerken is in line for automatic selection in goal this Saturday as Leicester visit Layer Road in front of the Sky cameras.

The 22-year-old is expected to get his hands on the goalie gloves for the first time in three outings as his team-mate and coach Aidan Davison has sustained an injury to his shoulder.

39-year-old Davison, in his last season before retirement, has been in and out of the side as a result of differing injury problems throughout the season. It is now expected that he will not be risked at the weekend, although U`s boss Geraint Williams is refusing to commit to which stopper he will pick.

Gerken’s lack of apperence in the last reserve game on Monday evening is taken as an indication that he is ready to step up to the first XI if required.

On his injured keeper Davison, Williams told the BBC after United`s last game: “Aden took a bang on his shoulder and it`s sore.”

He added: “He`s with Flynny (club Physio Tony Flynn) now and we`ll see how it settles down.”

Deeno is such a quality keeper, that if Aiden gots a knock George shouldn’t be hesitant to play him.
