COLCHESTER UNITED’S on-loan front-man Karl Hawley has revealed his frustration at his lack of first-team chances at Preston North End.

The 27-year-old has found opportunities limited at Deepdale this season, so Alan Irvine sanctioned a loan move to the U’s. To read the article, click here.

Hawley said: ‘It isn’t in my nature to be happy sitting in the stand or on the bench, I want to be out there playing.

‘I was in the manager’s office every couple of weeks asking why I wasn’t being considered and he agreed to let me know if anyone came in to take me on loan.’

However, now a week into four-week spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, Hawley is keen to hit top goalscoring form.

After making his U’s debut at Leicester last weekend, he commented: ‘I really enjoyed it at Leicester last weekend but I know I wasn’t as sharp as I could have been because I hadn’t played much football.’

‘That sharpness will come and I just want to help the team, get minutes on the pitch and score some goals,’ Hawley concluded.

So how many goals do you think Hawley will net while in North Essex? Or will he struggle to find his goalscoring touch?
