The Official Website, on Saturday, confirmed that Dan Holman will spend a spell away from Colchester on loan again at the start of this season.

George Elokobi is awaiting his second U’s debut but the former Wolves and Oldham man is moving closer, however Holman’s own first-team football will come with Woking after a one-month loan deal was agreed with the Non League side.

Having struggled for football since arriving at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, taking in loan spells with Wrexham, Aldershot and Dover Athletic so far, you tend to think that the striker isn’t going to have a long-term future under Tony Humes is he?

Maybe I’m wrong but the signs are ominous for Holman….

One that should be very much in Humes’ plans this season, having returned in the summer following his Oldham exit, is Elokobi who was named on the bench for the first time this season in the defeat at Peterborough on Saturday having missed pre-season due to an injury setback.

He’ll be on the bench again tonight for the game with his former club at Boundary Park with the U’s boss telling the Gazette his return is getting closer.

‘George will be part of the squad against Oldham.

‘He’ll be involved but he probably needs a bit more match time.

‘We have an under-21 game (against Birmingham) on Wednesday and he’s likely to be involved in that.’
