New-boy Gary Holt is adamant he has joined Colchester United for more than just the coaching side of things.
The veteran 36-year-old midfielder signed on last week, mainly in a coaching capacity after working with boss Paul Lambert at Wycombe Wanderers.
Speaking to The Daily Gazette: ‘I decided last year that I wanted to get into coaching.
‘I wanted to look at different things but I still have the hunger to play in every single game. I don`t get a say in how much I play – that`s down to the manager.
Holt, a former Scotland international, looks set to have limited chances, with the U’s having a healthy selection in the centre-of-midfield.
‘But I am here, I am fit and I am able when and where they need me,’ Holt insisted.
So do you see Holt featuring regularly?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Matt Holland would have been a far better signing but perhaps unrealistic!
Yep, and not at all unrealistic IMO but Lambert obviously wants what he knows…
