After earning recognition for a rapid start to the season, winger Ashley Vincent wants to end the season with a large goal tally.
The attacking wide-man has had a major influence for the U’s in the opening spell of the season so far, including an inspirational performance in the 7-1 romp at Norwich City, and a vital goal against Yeovil a week later.
Perhaps, optimistically, but understandabley, Vital U’s co-ed Matt_U’s has even made a comparison of Vincent’s goal-threat from wide with world-football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Vincent, who sealed a summer switch from Cheltenham Town in June, told the EADT: ‘I want to score as many goals as I can this season. Even though I’m playing as a wide-player, I like to get inside more than anyone else.’
The 24-year-old was named in The League One Team Of The Week after starting the campaign in a rich vain of form, the full team can be seen by, clicking here.
After losing playmaker Mark Yeates to the lure of Championship football, I’m sure I’m not the only U’s fan to feel Vincent is more than capable of feeling the void he left.
So what do you think?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Well, I did say that Steve… but no need to tell the world! haha! Doesn’t matter – let me just say I compared him casually because he can head the ball and because he’s also a winger. There, done!
Na – I like it! Can see where your coming from! lol Up the U’s!
Good! He’s probably more like a lot of other wingers lower down the leagues, just couldn’t think of any at the time! His work-rate has been good. Played less well in the Cup match however; was too scare to take people on!
Can see him getting into double figures!
