The long-running wrangle between Norwich City and Colchester United over Paul Lambert`s compensation fee is over today after the U`s were awarded nearly half-a-million pounds.
Lambert left Colchester nine months ago in controversial circumstances following United`s insistence that the Scot was induced by City to break his Us contract.
The reigning League One champions will finally pay £425,000 for Lambert`s services after negotiations between the two clubs turned frosty.
Norwich also owe as much as another £200,000 for breaking Football League regulation 20 but the arbitration stopped short of issuing them with a points deduction, as Cowling had originally desired.

At last the compensation that we deserve. How City’s solicitor could criticize our approach in all this is beyond me. They (city) deserved a heavier blow in my opinion. However, this compo will inevitably help us for next season. Up the U’s!!

Er, last time I checked the pitch was covered in grass…! Not bad overall, would have hope for a bit more, but considering what they were prepared to pay we’ve got to laugh and be happy!
