Colchester United’s midfield hard-man Kem Izzet was pleased with the character shown by the U’s in last night’s draw.

A battling U’s fought to a 2-2 draw at home to Dagenham & Redbridge, coming from behind to lead before the visitors drew level.

Speaking to BBC Radio Essex, Izzet said: ‘We didn’t play well but still managed to get a result. I thought we were unlucky not to nick it at the end.’

Izzet, 29, who has captained the side this season, looked forward positively: ‘We’ve got six draws and three wins, it’s not ideal, we’d rather a few more wins under our belt,’ Izzet added.

‘But obviously it’s a nice record to have, we’ll go to MK Dons full of confidence on Saturday and see what we can get there.’
